Frozen Yogurt Bananas

Dylan’s summer frozen treat score is a 1:1 right now. Negative, the quintessential dinging ice cream truck does not drive down our little dirt road. Positive, he discovered how to open the freezer all by himself.

If Dylan was a Candy Land character he’d be this Frozen Yogurt Banana. Made from his favorite things to eat, with a clean little handle, and only taking minutes to roll together.

Of course you can adapt these however you like. If you can’t eat or don’t like nuts, try crushed sunflower seeds, or toasted unsweetened coconut. I added a dash of cinnamon to the yogurt but if you have a sweet tooth feel free to stir in vanilla, almond extract, or maple syrup.

FROZEN YOGURT BANANAS
makes 4

4 wooden popsicle sticks or “tongue depressors”
2 bananas, cut in half and peeled
3/4 cup whole milk plain yogurt, we love Mermaid Farm yogurt (use soy/coconut milk yogurt for vegan)
big dash cinnamon
3/4 cup slivered almonds

First insert the sticks then roll bananas in spiced yogurt. Next, roll in almonds (sprinkling nuts on top as you roll). Place the bananas on a parchment lined tray for easy removal or go rouge and skip the parchment if you don’t have any handy (like I did).

They are perfect to eat 45 minutes into the freezer as the bananas get frozen through quickly. To enjoy later, let sit on the counter for a few minutes to soften up.
